I know, I know ... it's been WAY too long. For those of you who read my blog that I don't have the pleasure of seeing or talking to on a regular basis, I'm sorry not to have kept you updated. The last time I posted here, I was just returning to work and in the depths of despair :(- ...Well, I've managed to get back into the swing of things as far as teaching kindergarten goes ... I am incredibly lucky to have an exceptionally sweet and special group of kids this year, so that has REALLY helped me every day. I'm not always happy to go to work, but I'm always happy once my kids arrive. And by the time I realize Lucy is at home without me, it's time to go home! 4 hours really isn't so bad, and our nanny (Joy) has been a tremendous blessing to us, also. God definitely knew what He was doing, bringing her into our lives ... within a week, she and Lucy were in love :-) Although she's not really "grandma", she certainly feels like one to Lucy, I'm sure. I no longer worry one bit while I'm away - (but that doesn't mean I don't wish I was here with Lucy every second, because believe me, I do).
Anyway, we have been busy lately, and much to my disbelief - my baby girl is turning 1-year-old tomorrow. I can't even begin to describe just how emotional this makes me.... I'm having flash-backs to the weeks after Lucy was born when I was crying all the time - I don't know if these are more happy tears or sad tears - they are both, but regardless - it's happened. A whole year has passed since I officially became a mommy. I think it has probably been the most stressful, happy, overwhelming, sleep-deprived, smile-filled year of my life ... but I KNOW it has been the BEST year of my life.
We celebrated Lucy's birthday yesterday (Sunday) afternoon with close friends and family. Here are a few of the highlights:
Lucy, getting her big present from Mommy and Daddy - a new bunny chair. She LOVES it!
Here we are with our little birthday princess. :-)
Lucy with Great Grandma!
She definitely enjoyed her birthday cupcake! :-)
Aunt Steph (and Collin) helped Lucy open all of her presents ...
...Lucy's favorite part was the ribbons!
How many guys does it take to assemble a princess car...?
Lucy took her first steps (with the help of her new push toy) ... how exciting! :-)
