When Lucy's first birthday had come and gone and she hadn't been on a horse yet, I decided we'd better do something about that! I'm not sure why I waited so long ... I trust my horse (Laredo) completely, but putting her up there in the saddle WITH me just makes me way too nervous ... no matter how much I trust him, he's still a horse with a mind of his own! "Lucy's horse", Ace, on the other hand, is probably more trustworthy than the average babysitter. He has proven to be quite the angel with various riding students (many of them VERY young), and so putting Lucy up there in the saddle on his back really didn't worry me at all. So ... with Dani's help, I was able to snap a few photos of Lucy's first official ride! As you can see, she pretty much loved it! She was just smiling and giggling away the whole time. She thought she was pretty cool stuff up on that (HUGE, 16.2hh) horse!

This year was more or less Lucy's "first" Halloween (last year she was only 4 days old, and we were more concerned with figuring out what to do with a baby than dressing her up and parading her around!). She was a fuzzy pink/white striped zebra (it was the closest thing to a horse I could find). I took her shopping at Costco that afternoon in her costume and we enjoyed all of the looks and comments (mostly from the little old ladies:-). Halloween night, we went to my grandma's house (Lucy's great-grandma) for homemade maple bars with my family. Yum!
