My house is feeling cleaner and less cluttered every day - how about you!?
I have officially crossed 16 of my 40 bags off the list.
And for those of you who thought 40 bags seemed like A LOT, let me just tell you ... I have actually come up with MORE than 40 spaces as the days have gone on. I get on a roll and I just can't stop! :-)
Oh, and just to clarify ... I'm not concerned with filling 40 actual bags ... to me, it's more the idea of cleaning out 40 spaces.
From the 16 spaces I've cleaned so far, I think I've probably filled up about 3 or 4 bags, so don't stress about filling 40 whole bags! (Especially when you're using the biggest size garbage bags you can buy!)
The space I was most anxious to start with was my kitchen utensil drawer.
was that drawer a few days ago. Yikes. No wonder it took me 5 minutes to find the vegetable peeler! (which I have recently discovered I have two of ... who knew!?)
Just in case you need some extra "encouragement" ... here are a few questions I'm asking myself about my superfluous items in question:
- Will I miss this in a year?
- Will anyone notice it's gone?
- Have I worn it/used it in the past year?
- What's the worst thing that could happen if I get rid of it?
- Do I love it - or do I feel a need to keep it out of obligation?
- Do I really need more than one?
- Can it be replaced (if absolutely necessary!)?
Does that help!?
And one more useful tip to ensure that once you have committed to getting rid of something, it stays in the "bye-bye pile" ... BLACK GARBAGE BAGS. You can't see through them ... and neither can anyone else in your house!
(Remind me to tell you about the time I decided to "weed" Scott's collection of baseball caps. Wow.)
I'm here to tell you, it's just better for everyone if "everyone" doesn't know what's leaving the house in those bags! :)~
Let me leave you with a quote:

Now go forth and attack the junk piles, cupboards, corners, and drawers!
