Fixin' Up the Front Porch Friday :-)

It's FINALLY FRIDAY!
First week back from Spring Break is always a tough one for a teacher.
Yep.  That's about all I've got to say about that ...
But the good news: now it's April, and that means June is only two months away!  Yahoo!!!

I'm jumping the gun a little bit (for Oregon, anyway) - and attempting to get ready for front-porch-sittin' weather.

Until last week ... THIS is what was sittin' on MY front porch:
(Purchased from an antique sale for $25.)
Yikes.  Kinda scary.  It's been waiting patiently for a little sprucing up ...

...and a can of turquoise paint did the trick!  I painted her up and roughed up the edges a little bit ...

...and then added a few other details.
(A "hidden" Easter egg!)
And THEN ... I painted the boring white rocking chairs that used to (blend in with my white house) and sit, lifeless on the front porch next to the sad-looking trunk.  Yep ... the same ones you can buy at just about any home improvement store for $100.00.  But with a little bit of "Colonial Red" paint ... WOW!
And a beautiful pillow (made by Joy!) with perfectly complimenting fabrics (she sells fabric on ebay - look for silverquilts!)

SO much better, don't you think!?
I love paint.  (notice I didn't say painting)
Nothin' like a pop of color to liven up a space and make you wanna spend time there!
Now if the weather would just cooperate around here....

HaPPy wEekeNd tO YoU!  Go out and paint something!

P.S.  That trunk isn't the only thing that got slapped with the turquoise paint last week ... stay tuned!
P.P.S.  Little Lucy Lu now has FIFTY(+) followers!  I just want to thank you awesome peeps for following me!  I know it's a silly thing to be excited about ... but I'm EXCITED! :-)

  5. I have red rocking chairs on my porch too. Love the trunk in turquoise. I'm slightly obsessed with turquoise and yellow these days. I have quite a few things ready for paint once it warms up a bit. Looking forward to reading more of your blog.

  10. Wow, gorgeous! I would love to have a porch, especially here in the Pacific NW where I could rock in a rocking chair, sip coffee, watch the rain and listen to the tree frogs. Ah, bliss!
